Trevor Smith Jr. and Tristan Smith share a football history, but each brother is building his own role at Erasmus Hall.

Trevor Smith Jr. and Tristan Smith have been playing football since they were four years old. Their journey began in Brooklyn with the Brooklyn Renegades and continued through BU Youth Football before they joined the Chiefs at 11U and 12U. Football eventually took the twins well beyond their home borough, with competition across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, the DMV, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama and California. By the time they arrived at Erasmus Hall, football was already a major part of a journey they had shared for more than a decade.
That history now meets a new chapter in Brooklyn. The twins have familiar roots, but their assignments, opportunities and progress deserve to be viewed separately.
Meet the Twins
Trevor Smith Jr. wears No. 9 for Erasmus Hall and contributes as a defensive back and returner, roles that put his speed, open-field instincts and special-teams opportunities at the center of his junior season.
Tristan appears in the pregame photograph carrying his No. 34 jersey. He is listed as a Class of 2028 linebacker/tight end (LB/TE) for Erasmus Hall. Special teams should be understood as a game-day assignment he has handled, not his roster position.
One Family, Two Paths
The brothers arrive with the same family foundation and years of shared football experience. On the field, each has his own position work, competition and pace of development. That distinction matters more than a matching last name.
At Erasmus Hall, they also reconnect with players they knew from youth football and tournament weekends. Those relationships add context to a roster shaped by talent, familiarity and the expectations attached to one of New York City’s most recognizable programs.
The Reset Before League Play
Erasmus Hall enters the next stretch at 0-2 after road losses to Millville and Delbarton. The first PSAL league game is scheduled for September 18 at 4 p.m. against John F. Kennedy Campus at Sid Luckman Field.
For Trevor and Tristan, the most useful measure will be how each responds to coaching, opportunity and the demands of league play. Their paths belong in the same family story, but each deserves to be read on his own terms.

The twins bring the same youth-football foundation into a demanding Erasmus Hall program, but their junior seasons are taking shape through different positions and opportunities. Trevor wears No. 9 as a defensive back and returner. Tristan wears No. 34 as a linebacker/tight end.
