Brooklyn, NY. Erasmus Hall returns to PSAL play Friday night with an early-season Brooklyn matchup carrying both standings and citywide significance. The Dutchmen visit unbeaten Eagle Academy II on Friday, September 25 at 6 p.m. at Eagle Academy II in Brooklyn.
Newsday’s latest Large School rankings, published September 23, place Erasmus Hall at No. 1 in the PSAL after its 43-6 league-opening win over John F. Kennedy Campus. MaxPreps lists Erasmus Hall at 1-2 overall and 1-0 in league play, with the Dutchmen ranked No. 2 in PSAL 4A and No. 6 in New York in its September 20 update.
Friday’s matchup
Eagle Academy II enters Friday 3-0 overall and 1-0 in league play. MaxPreps ranks the Eagles No. 1 in both Section 12 PSAL and New York’s PSAL 4A division. Eagle Academy II opened with a 14-12 win over Friendship Collegiate Academy, followed with a 24-20 victory over Archbishop Hoban and defeated Lincoln 42-0 in its league opener.
The matchup brings together two teams that opened PSAL play with decisive wins. Erasmus Hall scored 43 against JFK, while Eagle Academy II shut out Lincoln 42-0.
SMITH² game-week
Trevor Smith Jr., No. 9, returner/DB, enters the matchup after returning a punt for a touchdown in the JFK win. The score was reported by Newsday and captured in K7 Photo Video Production footage shared by the Smith family.
Tristan Smith, No. 34, LB/TE, remains part of Erasmus Hall’s 2026 roster as the Dutchmen move into their second league game.
What the numbers say
Erasmus Hall produced 198 passing yards and 138 rushing yards against JFK, according to MaxPreps. Through three games, Jordan Bishop leads the Dutchmen with 239 rushing yards, while Ebube Onukaogu has 246 receiving yards.
Eagle Academy II’s early-season production includes 108.7 rushing yards per game from Zy’eare Schulters and 66.7 receiving yards per game from Juvens Lindor. The Eagles’ defense is led statistically by Kaevon Robinson at 9.3 tackles per game and Chase Hyacinth with four sacks.
