NEW YORK — Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart have already proven that teammates can become co-hosts. Now they are testing something bigger: whether a podcast can become a full-scale New York culture property.
The Roommates Show Block Party lands at Randall’s Island Park on September 24, with doors at 4 p.m. and programming scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. The official lineup includes guests such as Spike Lee, José Alvarado, Mariska Hargitay and Landry Shamet, plus performances from Fabolous, Jim Jones, Maino and Dave East.
The official 2025 Roommates Show Block Party aftermovie shows how the podcast has already been translated into a live fan experience.
The video and gallery below are archival context from the 2025 Block Party, offering a look at how the live experience was staged the year before.

Athletes are building media. Media is building events.
This is the part of the creator economy sports people should study. The Roommates Show began as personality-driven media around two Knicks teammates. The live version adds ticketing, sponsors, hospitality, music, celebrity guests, content capture and thousands of opportunities for fans to become part of the show.
The medium is no longer just audio or video. The medium is the crowd.
And the music lineup is not decoration
Fabolous, Jim Jones, Maino and Dave East make the New York identity explicit. That booking strategy understands something teams and brands sometimes overcomplicate: local fandom already has a soundtrack. You do not have to manufacture culture when the city has been building it for decades.
Basketball brings the audience together. Hip-hop helps tell the audience who this night is for.
The business model is the real story
A successful live podcast can generate value in multiple directions at once: tickets, sponsorship inventory, branded activations, social clips, merchandise, premium experiences and future audience growth. It also gives the hosts something platforms cannot fully control: a direct relationship with people who chose to show up.
The Roommates Show is becoming a case study in what happens when athlete media stops thinking like content and starts thinking like IP.
For New York fans, September 24 is a party. For sports business, it is a blueprint.
